PUNCH AND JUDY SHOW

This is just a brief background of how we became Punch and Judy performers.

 

As a child, living near Bristol, day trips and holidays to the seaside were often taken in Weymouth and every performance of the magical Punch and Judy Show was watched with a lasting impact which would not surface until many years later.

 

During a visit to Weymouth in 2004 we had a long chat with Prof. Mark Paulton who was now the resident Punch and Judy performer, we decided that we would like to produce our own Punch and Judy Show.

 

Tools, wood and paint were bought on our return to Bristol and Joey the Clown came into being. It was slow but great fun and he still starts the show even now.

During this time Sue (unknown to me) contacted Prof. Guy Higgins (who had just retired from performing at Weymouth for thirty years) and arranged a lunch meeting. This lasted for four hours and became a monthly fixture.

We learnt so much from Guy and his wife Maggie in a very short space of time and when we started to perform in 2005 they came to see us with advice on how to make the show better. This was welcome and helped a lot.
